Chaffinch

Hogmanay at Dalavich

Hogmanay at Dalavich is famous for a great cèilidh in the community centre with cabin owners, visitors and residents getting together for music and fun - I understand there are occasionally drinks.

Here's a good Hogmanay Dalavich story: The community centre has a table tennis table and bats and balls are kept behind the bar. One Hogmany when the place was packed, a friend of ours went up to the bar and asked the person serving "Can I have a ping pong ball." Came the reply "What's in that?"

We can't go to the cabin at Hogmanay - Dave's band are playing in Manchester (see www.bigboybloater.com) - so the cabin is available for letting. Click the brochure for details, and get in touch if you are interested.

It's marked on the Ordnance Survey kept in the cabin but it's easy to get to - a short drive towards Kilmelford on a beautiful road which takes you round Loch Avich and then up through the hills. There are hundreds of these little lochans in West Argyll and people have their own favourites - this is ours. In summer, on a warm day (we do get these) it's an ideal place for a picnic.
